Starting September 14, GM vehicles will come with a 60-day money back satisfaction guarantee. If you’ve had your GM for at least 30 days, but less than 60, you can return it and get your money back. Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC vehicles will be covered under the money back guarantee. Pontiac vehicles won’t be eligible for a refund.
GM believes that its cars are good enough to compete with anything out there, but consumers are hesitant because of the company’s reputation of poorly built small cars in the 80s and 90s, as well as the very public recent bankruptcy. New ads for GM vehicles will focus on the individual brands, and will not mention GM at all.
There are some rules for the GM money back guarantee. The guarantee will only apply to sales, not leases, and consumers must be current on their payments. The GM money back guarantee will only apply to the retail price of the car, plus sales tax. The customer will still be responsible for any title, license or registration fees payed, as well as any dealer installed accessories. The vehicle being returned for GM’s refund must have less than 400 miles and less than $200 worth of damages to it. GM won’t refund your money if you try to purchase your trade-in back from the dealer, so don’t try to use the guarantee as a free rental.
Bought a new 2010 Chevy Camaro SS but decided you’d rather have a Challenger SRT-8? Chevrolet will buy your Camaro back under its money back satisfaction guarantee.
