German magazine Auto Und Motor Sport is reporting that Honda is planning to build a four-door coupe version of the European Honda Accord. The car will follow the styling cues of the Mercedes-Benz CLS and will compete with the Volkswagen CC, according to Left Lane News.
The stylish sedan will most likely be sold as an Acura in the U.S. The European accord on which it will be based is marketed as the Acura TSX.
We expect the Acura four-door coupe to be mechanically similar to the TSX on which it will be based, so it will most likely be powered by either 2.4 liter four-cylinder or the 3.5 liter V6 that will be available this summer in the TSX.
Acura has always made great cars, but with the exit of the RSX the luxury division of Honda has looked a little bland lately. The addition of a stylish four-door coupe will add a little life to Acura’s lineup, and give the VW CC a little competition.
Acura’s new four-door coupe will give the VW CC some competition for buyers who need a four door sedan but don’t want the look of one.
