The Bugatti Veyron is one of the coolest cars made.  It’s great looking, incredibly fast, and commands instant respect from anyone who knows squat about automobiles.  Everybody seems to agree that the Veyron is an amazing car just the way it is except for Bugatti.  Jalopnik reports that for some reason, Bugatti felt the car needed a new special edition model to spice things up.

So what is this special edition? A track ready stipper like the Scuderias from Ferrari? How about an easier to swallow hotrod edition like Lamborghini’s new LP models? Guess again! Bugatti’s special edition will have new paint schemes not available on the standard Veyron.

The three Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Centaire edition cars will honor the racing careers of three of Bugatti’s drivers from the distant past, and will be painted to match the racing colors of each driver.  Bugatti wants to remind potential buyers that its supercar has a racing heritage, because being able to drive 253 miles per hour in a car that’s civil and comfortable enough to drive every day isn’t enough incentive to buy it.

Just about everyone who cares even a little bit about cars would be willing to drive a Veyron even if it came with a giant neon sign on top that said “DRIVER HAS HAIR LICE.” It’s that amazing.  More importantly, anyone who can afford a Veyron can afford a new paint job if they don’t like the one it came with.

The best part of this ridiculous story? One of the special edition colors is beige.
