Volkswagen of America, Inc. has built a special edition Beetle for Mattel’s celebration of Barbie’s 50th birthday. The life-size pink Malibu Barbie New Beetle convertible debuted at Barbie’s Malibu Dream House for the iconic doll’s birthday party.
Customization was done by ABD Racing Werks, Katzkin Leather and Interiors and FoamMolders. The hot pink Beetle convertible features a white custom leather interior and convertible top, hand-stitched floor mats, pink quilted leather-lined door pockets and arm rests and a dipstick painted to resemble Barbie’s favorite lipstick.

The car even has a motorized vanity in the trunk and rhinestone accents and vanity mirrors. VW says that more than five shades of paint were mixed together to create the perfect pink color for Barbie’s car.
Volkswagen did not say if it would actually sell the Malibu Barbie New Beetle convertible to car shoppers or if it would produce a toy version for Barbie dolls to drive around in.
