The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall for 6,680 2009 Kia Rondo minivans. The problem seems to be with the Rondo’s fuel pump which might fail.
Here is the recall summary posted by the NHTSA:
KIA IS RECALLING 6,680 MY 2008-2009 RONDO LX AND EX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.4 LITER ENGINE. THE FUEL PUMP MAY NOT OPERATE PROPERLY RESULTING IN NOT ENOUGH FUEL GETTING TO THE ENGINE. POOR ENGINE STARTING, ENGINE HESITATION, AND OTHER IMPAIRMENT MAY RESULT, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY ILLUMINATE.
As a remedy dealers will replace the old fuel pump with a new and improved part. All work will be carried out free of charge, of course, and should take no more than one or two days. Make sure to get this done as the fuel pump failure could leadto the engine stalling will your driving, not good! Owners with further questions can contact Kia directly at the number below.
