Despite the current economic situation some sectors of the automotive market have increased. Take BMW for example. The company recently announced that their M GmbH division has seen an increase in sales by around 50% compared to last year.
That’s a staggering figure these days. According to the company, a significant increase in world-wide sales has seen 22,340 units being sold worldwide as of November 2008. Compared to the 14,092 units it moved last year the difference is staggering. Over 1,900 of those vehicles were delivered in November alone!
BMW claims a major influence on the new numbers has to do with the success and popularity of the new M3, which is now available in three different body styles. The new V8 sports car has been a huge sales success for the Munich-based company.
“The fact that our dealers were able to supply significantly more vehicles than the average of the last nine months even in such dramatic times for the world economy demonstrates the fascination and attraction which BMW M automobiles exercise on our customers,” explains Ludwig Willisch, President of BMW M GmbH
It seems even in these tough economic times that BMW’s M cars still hold an allure and appeal over automotive enthusiasts. The promise of a sports car with awesome performance and everyday practicality might just be too much for some to resist, and BMW’s sales figures prove that.
