Lamborghini’s are extravagant cars. Plain and simple, one does not do subtle in a Lamborghini. These cars scream attention in a way only an earth-bound spaceship could. Lambo’s are the definition of “exotic.”
Now you can have that same mystic and crazy style, while the wind blows in your hair. But this is no ordinary Lamborghini convertible, no this one is quite special. Based on the ever popular Gallardo, this one is called the LP560-4 Spyder and it is quite the sight indeed.
The Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder is basically the highest specification of the Gallardo, only with the top chopped off. The car debuted at this year’s L.A. Auto Show and to say it got a warm reception would be an understatement. One of the most photographed cars at the show, the Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder is a scene stealer, and we haven’t even got to the performance part.
As you can imagine the “560” in LP560-4 stands for a mighty 560hp being generated by a 5.0-liter V10 engine. That’s enough ooomph to propel the car to 60mph in 4 seconds flat and continue on to a top speed of around 200mph. All this is ensured by the sure-footed feeling of the car’s standard AWD system. Both a 6-speed semi-auto and manual transmissions are offered.
But to really experience what this car is all about you have to drop the power soft-top, which takes about 20 seconds. The cloth top comes in black, blue, gray, and beige to suit all color combos. Safety is still built into the design of the car with a roll-over protection system deploying two spring-loaded rollover bars located behind the seats in as fast as 2.5 seconds, which seems a bit, um, slow. You’d thinks a car could roll over in less time than that right?
Though pricing hasn’t been released yet, dealers are already taking orders. Expect it to be mighty expensive, I’d guess just shy of $200,000. Still, this is one awesome car. It should be perfect for those who think too much attention is just enough.
