With the booming Chinese economy, it’s only natural that car makers should start looking east with a peaked interest. What has caught a lot of people off guard is how many exotic car companies are setting up shop there.
Lamborghini is the latest exotic Italian mark to set up it’s own sales branch in China. Called Automobili Lamborghini China, the companies Beijing office is scheduled to be opened in early 2009. With opportunities arising everyday in China, it’s only natural that a company like this would eventually set up shop there. “China has the strongest dynamics of change to undoubtedly become the leading economy in the world,” said Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “The development of wealth and the developing savoir-vivre in China make it one of the pivotal markets for Lamborghini’s future growth.”
Currently Lamborghini sold 28 cars in 2007. With the company having dealerships in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, and opening new ones in Chengdu and Qingdao, Lamborghini have set a goal of selling 80 cars in 2008. With the way things are happening in China, those aren’t lofty figures.
