Official word is that it will be called the 370Z. Why 370? That’s because the newest generation of Nissan’s Z will be equipped with a newer, larger, 3.7-liter V6 good for about 330hp. The same engine is already employed in it’s upscale cousin, the G37 coupe, so it is only natural that the same motor will make its way into the new Z’s engine bay.
As far as styling goes, I guess we can expect the Maxima’s new boomarang-style headlights to find their way on all Nissan models. These spy photos clearly show that the styling of the last generation was so popular that only a slight re-touch was needed to keep the new model fresh. Wider wheel arches and a more agressive roof-line (similar to the GT-R) round out the styling upgrades.
The car’s official debut will happen at the upcoming 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. When the car goes on sale next year it will be badged as a 2010 model. No matter what it’s model year will be this is one car that will be bright spot in 2009.
