Ah, yes, the minivan. If there ever was a symbol for modern middle-class suburbia, this was it. The minivan was a major hit for Chrysler and it forced other manufactures to scramble and come up with their own designs to compete. Next thing you know, there was a minivan explosion. These things were everywhere and become synonimous with the soccer-mom, until the SUV came along.
Chrysler has announced they are celebrating this minivan milestone by releasing a 25th anniversary edition of it’s Chrysler Town & Country. Exterior details on the 25th-anniversary edition include 17-inch aluminum wheels, chromed belt and body-side moldings and a roof rack with cross bars. The cabin gets satin finishes and leather seats with French-seamed stitching.
Most surprising for our market though, is that it will be offered with a turbo-diesel powerplant. The diesel option has always been open to European drivers, but now it seems Chrysler is making an effort to bring it stateside.
More details, and the final specs, will be released when the car gets displayed at the 2008 Paris Auto Show.
