When General Motors first showed us the concept for the Chevrolet Volt, we were intrigued. This was a hybrid plug-in, wrapped around the body of a stunning sports car. Could this be the car that changes the way we look at hybrids?? We weren’t the only ones wondering…
Turns out the answer in no. You see that’s because when General Motors finally did unveil the production Volt, it looked nothing like the concept. In fact, it wasn’t even a two-door sports car, but rather another boring four door sedan. What happened?
Well apperantly GM exec’s figured that the two-door Volt didn’t have as much mass appeal as a conventional four-door (you think?!) but they negated to see that now the Volt is just another four-door hybrid, another Prius rip-off as most the public percieves it. GM did not understand that with a two-door, they could have lured an entire different market segment, and changed the public’s perception of what a hybrid could be. Tisk, tisk, GM…..
WHAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN:
HOW IT WILL BE:
Above: As you can see GM took the lame way out….
