AC Schnitzer is a company that has been synonymous with BMW tuning for almost a half century. In that time thet have established themselves among the elite BMW tuners in all of Europe, let alone their home country of Germany. When you see the little AC Schnitzer badge watch out! That’s a highly tuned German Bimmer flying by.
Now the Schnitzer folks have turned their attention to the X5 model in BMW’s lineup. A sporty SUV in it’s own right, AC Schnitzer transforms this rather good SUV into something that emphasizes the Sporty part of sport utility vehicle.
Called the X5 Falcon, this rather special vehicle started life as a run-of-the-mill X5 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel. But this is no stock powerplant as the engine modifications carried out by the tuning master propel power to 306 horsepower and a stump-pulling 502 pound-feet of torque.
The Falcon body kit includes flared fenders and wheel arches, as well as new front and rear skirts. The look is accented with twin triangular air intakes in the hood and chrome tailpipes in the rear. The company also installs bespoke interior pieces all over the vehicle. The X5 Falcon rides on 22-inch Schnitzer Type VII racing rims shod with low-profile performance rubber which is good for laying down all that prestigious torque.
Pricing for the kit is available from AC Schnitzer upon request, of course.
Above: The body kit is a bit flamboyant for my tastes, but the wheels are a 10….
