In a recent public announcement Mitsubishi Motors said that it will partner with two California utility companies to conduct real world testing of it’s i MIEV electric car in the U.S.
Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric are the two companies involved in this project. How exactly these companies are working together is unknown. But this is just the beginning of these types of test as automakers start taking a cold hard look at electric power.
Mitsubishi has been conducting similar tests in its home market with a number of Japanese utilities. the company plans to begin selling a production version of the i MIEV in Japan by next summer. If the concept is successful there it’s only matter of time before it comes stateside, probably around 2010.
