Acura’s TL has been a car that has firmly put Acura back on the map. For a brief period in the late 90’s the Acura brand was a bit weak compared to the other luxury brands on the market, but cars like the TL and RSX have brought the company back into the mix.
For 2009 Acura has significantly updated and redesigned it’s TL mid-size sedan. Two different models of the fourth generation TL will now be available. First, a front-wheel-drive TL with a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and then all-wheel-drive TL SH-AWD with a 305-hp 3.7-liter V6.
The chassis features double-wishbone front suspension and multilink rear suspension and electric power steering is now standard for both models. The six-speed manual transmision seems to have gone the way of the dodo, and now only a paddle-shift 5-speed automatic will be offered.
Acura’s “Keen Edge Dynamic” design language is strongly evident in this new redesign. Sharp edges meet futuristic trim with the new TL. Interior treatment follows suit, and the new multifunction center display steals your attention the moment you step inside.
Pricing so far has not been announced but expect it to be a little bit more than the current TL, maybe by a couple of hundred dollars. Dealers are expected to start receiving shipments around winter time.
