Their designs have been cemented into the collective conscious of automotive desire. The lines of a Ferrari that make the cars so lust-worth, so sensual, are the work of one name, Pininfarina.
Founded by Batista Pinin Farina, Pinifarina design has been a major player in Italian automotive design for over a half-century. The latest offering has been the all new Ferrari California, and it’s already been received with great acclaim.
Recently though, the firm has been struck by a tragedy. Batista’s grandson Adrea Pininfarina, who is the head of the Italian design firm, has been tragically killed when a car struck the small Vespa scooter he was riding.
The death is expected to further impact Pininfarina in a negative way. The design firm has been in the middle of a restructuring while it deals with financial problems. Investors are already speculating on a possible sale of the company. This would be a tragic end to a design firm that has been creating dreams on wheels for over 50 years. The company has yet to issue a statement.
