BMW’s 1-series has been received with great acclaim. The littlest Bimmer has won over almost any automotive journalist who’s had the pleasure of sliding into it’s awesome bucket seats and turned it’s thick, three-spoke steering wheel. Add the 335i’s 300hp twin-turbo six cylinder to the mix and the results might just be enough to win anybody over. Can it get any better?
Well if you live in a state with lot’s of sun, then it can. That’s because BMW is now offering their awesome 135i in convertible form. The power soft top raises and lowers in 22 seconds and the leather is treated with a sun reflective chemical. These are just a few of the differences between the rag-top and the coupe.
At a base price of $39,100 the BMW is no small beans. Start adding up the options and that price can quickly climb into the mid-40’s. But what you get for the price is one heck of a car. BMW fans will understand, while regular folks will gawk at the price tag. You see, these poor souls have never driven a BMW. Don’t blame them, they just don’t understand.
Being 288 pounds lighter than the 335i only helps it’s cause. The convertible reaches 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and then gets through the quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds at 101.3 mph. Also it’s 4 inch shorter wheelbase makes it a demon in the twisty stuff. All in all a great drivers cars, and one you can now get a tan while driving. What more could you want?!
