Volkswagen of America has recently announced that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has approved a $1,300 federal income tax credit for consumers who purchase the any 2009 TDI turbo-diesel models. The clean burning diesel engines Volkswagen currently offers are fast becoming a viable source for saving some heavy green, and not just at the pump either!
At the current time, the only to models with that engine are the 2009 Jetta TDI and the Jetta SportWagen TDI. The sedan starts at $21,990, while the SportWagen starts at $23,590. Both models, which achieve over 35mpg in the city and over 45mpg on the highway, arrive in dealer showrooms nationwide in August.
