Jaguar’s XF is fast becoming one of the company’s best selling models. It’s bold styling along with it’s bespoke interiors have started winning over a new generation of Jaguar fans. The XF is bold, provocative, and now it’s supercharged.
Jaguar has chosen to abandon the “R” moniker it used to give to it’s supercharged models, and instead now the car simply goes by the name of XF Supercharged. What does carry over though is that fabulous engine. It’s 4.2-liter V8 has a Roots-type supercharger unit and twin liquid-to-air intercoolers. The result is 420 hp at 6,250 rpm and 413 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm.
The Supercharged XF also rides on the ambiguous 20” wheels and sports calibrated suspension. Steering-wheel-mounted paddles allow you to command manual gearchanges from the XF’s excellent six-speed automatic transmission. Brakes are also awesome, and a full stop from 60 mph requires just 108 feet. Impressive braking performance for a more than two ton sedan and on par with some serious sporting machinery.
The new XF Supercharged comes with a base price of $62,975. Standard equipment levels are quite comprehensive. A navigation system, back-up camera, an impressive 440-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system, a voice-activated interface, Bluetooth, keyless ignition and a blind-spot alert system are all included in the base price. In fact a fully loaded model will only add two more options, a heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control. Both items bring the total sticker to only $65,475. It safe to say most of the models sold will be loaded.
