Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher has given his official opinion on the 2009 Ferrari California, and he likes it. Schumacher recently completed development testing on the Ferrari California with the corporate mandate to optimize its “performance parameters.”
The California is an important model for the marque as it looks to capture it’s less hardcore drivers. These are the people that buy a Ferrari to drive everyday. While cars like the F430 Scuderia are essential for Ferrari lore, a good percentage of their customer base is still people who need a more “everyday” Ferrari.
Mr. Schumacher summed it up this way; “The 430 Scuderia is aimed at drivers who want the very essence of a Ferrari and will get it out on the track as often as they can,” he said. “The Ferrari California, on the other hand, is designed for everyday use and for weekends away whilst still guaranteeing all of the emotional impact that only an authentic Ferrari can deliver.”
The Ferrari California is set to make its debut at the 2008 Paris Auto Show on October 2. Whether or not it gets the public’s approval is no longer an issue now. It’s been approved by someone that knows how to evaluate a car, Mr. Michael Schumacher. If it’s good enough for him it should be good enough for everybody.
