Tires never stood a chance against this thing. With 530hp out of it’s twin-turbo flat-6 engine, the new 2009 911 GT2 is by all definitions, a monster. Want a 911 Turbo with more power, less weight, and none of that sissy all-wheel drive keeping you safe? Well, step right up…
The GT2 is the pinnacle of 911 performance. This car really lives up to the old cliche’ “racecar for the road.” It is unlike anything else in the lineup as far as pure performance is concerned. Heck, in the right hands this car will even out-pace Porsche’s own V10 Carrera GT supercar! This is the kind of car that boyhood posters are made out of. If you don’t believe me than just let the numbers speak for themselves…
Here are the stats:
2008 Porsche 911 GT2
0-60 = 3.9 seconds
0-60 (with 1-foot rollout) = 3.6 seconds(!!!) Quarter-mile = 11.7 at 121.3 mph
Impressive stats in any company. With the weight reduction of around 450lbs compared to the 911 Turbo, the GT2 positively rockets through time and space leaving a 911-shaped hole in the atmosphere in it’s wake. What’s more, the braking is in a class of it’s own. The GT2’s standard carbon-ceramic disc brake system brings this car to a halt from 60 mph in just 96 feet. Not 196 feet, but 96 feet! That’s gotta be some sort of new record somewhere, the thing can come from 60mph to a dead halt inside of the space of a turning lane for Pete’s sake!
Of course all that P-O-W-E-R comes at a mighty powerful price. Are you ready? Ahem, $198,875.00 to be exact. That’s a whole $84,000 more than a 911 GT3! I know, I know, don’t knock it till you try it right? Well, knowing my luck that time will never come. For now I’d rather just say I feel it’s too expensive, and too powerful. I feel a lot better when I lie to myself…
Above: All we can say is WEEEEE!!!!!
