That’s right folks, now a torque-rich, fuel efficient turbo-diesel will be available in Ford’s popular F-150 pickup truck. In the olden days you needed to step up to one of the bigger trucks in Ford’s lineup just to be able to opt for a diesel engine. Anything below a F-250 was a no go for diesel.
But news of Ford testing a diesel F-150 spread like wildfire on the internet after photographers at KGP Photography captured company personnel testing what was clearly labled as a diesel version of the F-150.
Inside the full-size truck’s cabin, a “Diesel Fuel Only” warning sticker sits below the truck’s redesigned 2009 gauge cluster, warning occupants not to fuel with regular gasoline. If there was ever a “Duh!” moment, than this was it. The photographers went to work and snapped the pics before personnel could shoo them away.
Source’s close to the project say the new F-150 Diesel should be in showrooms by spring time next year. It’ll probably boast a significant price increase in price, around $5,000, over the base 5.4-liter V8. We’ll keep you posted as more info comes in.
