Spy photographers recently snapped the first set of shots of the upcoming 2010 Honda Hybrid. While Honda currently sells hybrid versions of it’s accord and civic sedans, this will be a hybrid-only model that Honda has developed to go head to head with the dominating Toyota Prius. Honda’s new prototype was caught running tests in the dessert with a Toyota Prius and Honda’s redesigned 2009 Civic Hybrid.
Not much can be seen about how the final shape will look, but it’s overall silhouette is very similar to the current Prius. Both have an enlarged greenhouse and very van-like proportions. The Honda is a bit larger, according to spy photographers who there at the time the photos were taken. No word on anything technical yet, but expect an ultra efficient four cylinder with a newest generation hybrid motor in it. So far thats all we know, but we’ll keep you posted as more info comes in.
Expect the new hybrid model to be in showrooms at the end of next year as a 2010 model.
Above: Will Honda’s new hybrid be enough to take on the established Prius….
