Senator John McCain, Republican presidential candidate, spoke to General Motors workers today about the economy and how it has affected their industry.
McCain visited the GM site in Michigan that is developing the Chevrolet Volt, a long-range electric car, reports Yahoo and the AP.
He spoke at a town hall event with workers at the GM Technology Center. McCain told them that the Volt will have many competitors once it hits the market and the technology of the car will help the economy and will bring new jobs to Americans.
He also noted how recent GM workers who were laid-off are struggling and how he plans to help the industry with things like $5,000 tax credits on no-emissions cars, which he said will draw consumers back to the auto industry.
