If there ever was a car company that could turn grown men back into little boys, it’s Ferrari. These cars are the definitive big boy’s toys, and they inspire people to daydream all over the world.
Well they are at it again. Recently Ferrari posted the official pictures of the newest stallion in it’s stable, the 2009 Ferrari California. Though it brings back to life a storied name in the company’s history, the California is essentially a new type of Ferrari. It features the company’s first retractable hardtop making this the first hardtop-convertible from the folks at Maranello.
Details are scarce so far but here is what we do know: The California will be powered by a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 making around 460 ponies. It will come only as a hardtop-convertible (which weights only 14lbs !) and it will feature the company’s new dual-clutch transmission as an option (a manual 6-speed remains standard). It should weight a bit more that an F430 and be positioned just below it price-wise.
