BMW is planning to export about 500 electric versions of its Mini car to California, reports Automotive News.
According to BMW sources, 490 of the Minis will be leased to select customers in California and 10 will be used as show cars. These electric versions will be painted silver with yellow roofs.
Although BMW has not confirmed they are building electric versions of the Mini, the cars are said to help the company meet California’s new rules requiring manufacturers to offer zero emission vehicles in the state.
