The title is not a typo. The new Koenigsegg CCXR boasts all those figures and runs on biofuel. It’s an amazing achievement and proof that supercars don’t have to die on the switch to alternative fuels. It’s because of that biofuel that the Koenigsegg’s engine is able to take advantage of the E85’s 104-octane rating and produce 1,004 hp. On 98 octane unleaded gasoline, it only makes 876 hp, Ha!
A couple of months ago the company’s founder, Christian von Koenigsegg, took his monstrous creation to a ridiculous officially timed top speed of 241.8mph at Italy’s famous Nardo high-speed test track. Numbers that unfortunately put it in line with the Bugatti Veyron, and beat it by 1.4mph, ouch. That officially makes it the worlds fastest production car, no matter what the fuel!
All that power comes courtesy of a 4.8-liter small block V8 with twin superchargers and all sorts of exotic components and materials used throughout. No flappy-paddle dual-clutch gearbox nonsense in this beast. You get a 6-speed manual and a clutch pedal. Click in first and good luck.
All this awesome performance comes at a price though. $2.4 million is what you’ll need to go on this ride. So it’s double the price of a Veyron. The thing is, with your buddies filling they’re gas powered supercars every couple miles you can rest assured that, in the long run, they will pay the price anyway. Hey, a least your tearing a whole through space and time, not the atmosphere…
