Any car car that can lap the famed Nurburgring in under 8 minutes is in some rare company. We’re talking super cars, race cars, and ‘ring specials. Now we can add a Cadillac to that hollowed list.
That’s right, a Cadillac. You see the newest member of the family is the 2009 CTS-V. This time the CTS-V takes it’s Corvette motor and adds a healthy dose of supercharger to the mix. The result is a eye-watering 556-hp. Enough to sling the new beast around the “Green Hell” in around 7 minute and 58 seconds with famed driver John Heinricy behing the helm.
Cadillac’s newest baby also posts some very, very serious stats too. A 0-60mph run of 3.9 seconds (!) drives the point home hard. Follow that by a quarter mile run of 12 seconds flat and your convinced just before hitting an ungoverned top speed of about 191mph! Wicked fast stuff for any sedan, let alone a Cadillac.
The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V goes on sale in October. Cadillac says the price hasn’t been set, but since the old model got up to $53,000 and since the new 414-hp, V8-powered BMW M3 runs right around $60,000, I’m expecting the new Cadillac will list for just over $60K. A few options such as the automatic and the supremely comfy Recaro seats should push the price up to around $65,000.
Hey, you gotta pay to play remember? Speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go?
