Ford’s Taurus sedan has never been the type of car to light the fire inside enthusiasts. Dull, boring, and ugly are just some of the names that have been used to describe this car. Not surprisingly, the same words are used to describe the driving experience.
Still, with a few SHO high performance versions and other variants out there, a small following for these cars has emerged. Usually acquired as a case of hand-me-down automobile, the Taurus is the type of car no young person would want, but would take if offered for free, like from their parents.
Websites like the popular (with Taurus fans a least) Taurusclub.com have kept the Taurus in alive, at least on the web. Now their site has actually posted something we can all getting interested in. A member was able to catch a glimpse of the new Taurus due out in 2009. It’s a pretty fuzzy photo but the goods are there and we can plainly see what the new Taurus will look like and surprisingly it looks rather good.
Not much is known right now about this new Taurus model. What we can speculate is that it will be equipped with Fords new line of EcoBoost engines. These will be direct-injection turbo versions of Fords current line. Taurus is expected to be equipped with a turbocharged V with the promise of performance like a V8 and economy like a 4-cylinder. We’ll just have to wait and see about that. Look for the car to debut at next years Detroit Auto Show.
