Things are going great for Volkswagen these days, especially in it’s Chinese arm VW China. Sales in the Chinese market are soaring for the German auto giant. The companies first-quarter sales this year rose 32.5 percent to 268,200 vehicles. That is an outstanding achievement, even in for a heavyweight manufacture like VW.
VW’s China sales total included the sales of 17 Lamborghini’s and 125 Bentleys. This shows that the ultra-luxury market is also going strong in China. The company sold 30,188 Audis and 16,212 Skodas as well. Last year, VW sold 910,491 vehicles in China and they have a market share of about 18%.
Winfried Vahland, president and chief executive officer of Volkswagen China, said, “I am convinced sales will further go up to 1 million this year, keeping us as the market leader.”
The way they are gaining popularity in China I wouldn’t bet against them, that’s for sure.
