If your car came equipped with rocket launchers, smoke screen, and a road spike ejector system, it would be a safe guess that you like your martini’s shaken not stirred. James Bond’s movie cars are almost as famous as the spy himself and have garnered a loyal fan base. Well apparently some of these “fans” are a little bit more inspired than others.
Mexican authorities have confiscated a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has been equipped with a few gadgets of it’s own. The car belonged to local drug cartel and was packing a smoke screen sprayer, and a device that would dispense small spiked tacks behind it’s bumper to thwart off any police vehicles chasing them!
The modified Jeep Grand Cherokee, referred to as a “James-Bond-style vehicle” by BBC News, had been abandoned by members of a drug cartel after it was rammed into a military truck. The occupants then threw a hand grenade and escaped. Police are still unclear on whether the smoke machine or spikes had ever been used before. Still to actually equip your car with this stuff shows at least some one in the cartel was a Bond fan.
Smuggling cocaine into the United States is a $13 billion business for Mexican drug rings like this one. The modification were apparently very well done and the truck was said to have cost a nice sum of dough. It’s interesting to think about the guy who said, “Hey I have an idea, I saw it in a James Bond movie…” When all else fails, Q usually has a solution!
