Ford Motor Co. has announced it is issuing a recall that affects over 87,000 trucks. The recall, expected to begin on March 24th, involves 2008 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 trucks. The recall was issued to fix improper seat welds on certain models of the trucks in question.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall summary says “some 40 percent split and captain’s chair driver seats, equipped with lumbar supports, may have improper welds at the joint of the seatback pivot bracket and the seatback frame. In the event of a crash, the seat side pivot bracket may crack or break, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.”
Ford dealerships are ready to correct the problem. Once you come in to the dealer, they will add reinforcement to the driver’s seatback frame, or the seatback frame may be replaced. Owners who have further questions may contact Ford at the number below. This is a major safety issue, so any owners affected should take care of this right away.
