Porsche is notorious for being stubborn. The folks at Porsche just don’t think they do anything wrong. They have good reason too, they make more money per car sold than any other car maker. Porsche is also known for their engineering prowess. Who do you think designed Harley’s V-Rod motorcycle engine? Yup, the boys from Stuttgart.
So you see, it is seen as an embarrassment for Porsche to have to issue a recall but this is a potential safety hazard. 5,965 V6 Cayennes which were built from late 2006 through January 18, 2008 and sold in the United States and Canada are involved in the recall. The SUVs have what Porsche describes as a “potentially misaligned fuel line.”
“It has been discovered that slight engine movement while driving may occur and possibly cause a fuel line to contact the engine compartment cladding,” said Porsche Cars North America in a statement released Monday. “This could cause a knocking sound, and in rare instances, abrasion marks could possibly occur on the fuel line itself.”
The company issued this statement:
“It has been discovered that slight engine movement while driving may occur and possibly cause a fuel line to contact the engine compartment cladding. This could cause a knocking sound, and in rare instances, abrasion marks could possibly occur on the fuel line itself. There have been five known complaints worldwide, and in only one case did the fuel line show abrasion marks.”
Porsche has recommended that all affect customer go to their respective local Porsche dealerships so mechanics can re-route the fuel line. Any sort of problems with fuel lines are a big concern as fuel and hot engine compartment make a volatile combination. If your affected head on over to the dealer know!
