Volvo has officially served it’s version of the small luxury SUV. Pictures leaked onto the net recently and the company’s now named XC60. The new model was suppose to be officially unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show.
The company is obviously playing it of as nothing has happened and are ready and set for the official launch as scheduled. Volvo did announce though, that this was going to be a North American model and that it would be badged as a 2009.
Technical specs are not yet known with several automotive news websites saying the vehicle will get a 285-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 in Europe as well as a 185-hp 2.4-liter turbodiesel. For the U.S. probably expect a mild version of the company’s turbo 5 cylinder powerplant. I’d guess around 225-245hp and a healthy dose of torque. Obviously, one should expect the complete Volvo safety treatment.
Look for final specs and pricing when the model is unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show. Should prove to be a real good seller in the U.S. if the price and marketing is right. Look for it at dealers around the end of the year.
Above and Below: Volvo’s new small SUV has all the making’s of a good seller in the U.S. …..
