Rolls-Royce will unveil it’s latest addition to the Phantom range at the Geneva Auto Show. The Phantom Coupe’ is the first pure sporty car for Rolls-Royce in a long time. It is a fixed-roof two door coupe powered by the same glorious BMW derived V12 engine. When it goes into production it will have a starting price of $400,000.
The Phantom Coupe will be a bit sportier than the convertible Drophead coupe. It will come equipped with a slightly stiffer suspension and a “sport” setting for it’s automatic transmission. The four-passenger coupe will be “more dynamic” than the convertible according to Rolls boss Ian Robertson. He describes the new model as a “transcontinental tourer.” Fitting, seeing as it tips the scales at around 5,000 lbs and is no Ferrari chaser. Still it’s 6.75 liter V12 puts out a healthy 435hp and over 550ft/lbs of torque. These figures move the ship-sized sedan to 60mph in a very quick 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of over 175mph.
Oh, and one more thing, the Phantom Coupe will come with the concept car’s “starry night” headliner studded with dozens of tiny LEDs that light up after dark. A bit cheesy, I say. Especially with a car with such pedigree. Still I guess the folks who can afford these nowadays think this is a “super-fly” feature.
Look for the car to make it’s first public debut at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.
