How many special edition Corvettes are GM planning on releasing this year?! First we get the six-figure “Super Vette”, the ZR1. That car is a thorough special edition, with a supercharged small block and ceramic brakes. This one is a bit different.
The 427 is a “Nostalgia piece”. It is suppose to pay homage to the all might 427 Stingray. In reality it is nothing more than a appearance package on a standard Corvette zo6 who’s 7.0 liter V8 displaces (you guessed it) 427 cu. in. How convenient then. A mild body kit and new wheels, along with hood stripes, adorn the “red metallic tincoat paint” the car is sprayed with.
GM insiders say it’s destined to be a collectible. With a price tag starting at $84,195 it sure as hell better. A total of 505(engine’s horsepower) vehicles will be made with 427(jeez…) coming to the states. Expect dealer mark-ups on this baby. The true Corvette geeks won’t care, but if it’s performance you want without the flash, then save $13,000 and get the regular Z06. You won’t regret it.
