Anybody who grew up playing video games in the 90’s knows what a Nissan Skyline GTR is. The game was cemented into popular culture by the best-selling Playstation title Gran Turismo. You see, the game Gran Turismo was, though fun, a hard game to play. It is a realistic driving simulator that replicates as much as possible the reality of racing cars. This in turn made the game very challenging as you realized that a lot of your dream super cars are actually really hard to drive fast in real life.
The you unlock the GTR. Wow, this game just got sooo much easier. The GTR was easy to drive fast making the game lots of fun. It seems, people started wondering…” If this car is so much better to drive in the game than the rest of the cars, then it must be a hell of a street car!”
It was, no, it is. The Skyline GTR was so easy to drive because of it’s hardware. You see the GTR has a sophisticated all-wheel drive system, as well as a myriad of electronic hardware that helps you drive better. It’ll save your ass out of a real mess if you get in over your head. There was only one problem, price.
You see most of the fans of the game could never afford one of these cars. First, till now, they were only sold in Japan. Second, they ran about $80 Grand, ouch! So it seems the real fans of this car would never get to drive one, let alone own one.
That’s all about to change. Nissan’s next generation Skyline, dubbed simply the Nissan GTR, will be coming to the U.S. this year. That’s not the good news though. The good news is that Nissan will offer a lease program for the upcoming 473hp supercar.
This means that the car will be more affordable than ever before. Nissan, however, will offer few details on a GT-R lease program at this point, including such information as the vehicle’s residual or other lease terms. They plan on announcing all this info closer to the car’s U.S. launch date.
Well Gran Turismo fans, the time is now!!
