Tata’s Nano micro-car was a revolution when it came out. At $2,500, the Nano opened up a whole new mode of transportation for millions of Indian consumers. The car has already garnered a small following in India.
Well now Tata Motors has it’s sight’s on it’s next crucial market, Europe. While it seems obvious for the Nano to go to Europe first cause of cost concerns, that’s not the main reason.
For Tata Europe will be like finishing school. It’s a place whose consumers are used to high quality products and build finish. The Nano will be marketed as a small city car. Once the Europeans approve, then it will be easy to convince the rest of the world.
So far it’s still in it’s infancy, but the Nano has big possibilities to become a cultural icon. Now with bold plans to start exporting to Europe as early as next year, this little car is in for some big things.
