A Federal recall has been issued for the Chevrolet HHR wagons not equipped with optional roof rail airbags in March because they don’t meet the federal government’s standards for protecting occupants from head injury in the event of a crash. There will be approximately 181,516 vehicles affected in the recall. It affects all HHR models sold between 2006 and 2008.
According to NHTSA’s recall summary on the HHR, Chevrolet dealerships will install an energy-absorbing plastic piece to the headliner trim. Chevy Cobalt sedans, which share underlying engineering with the HHR, were recalled for a similar problem last year. This affectively reminds us that automakers will let anything slide if they think it won’t be noticed.
General Motors will send notification letters to customers, although owners may also contact Chevrolet at the number below. If you believe you are driving an affected model head on over to your local dealer right away to get this fixed. It is a matter of safety and therefore highly important.
You can contact Chevy here: 1-(800)- 630-2438.
