The minivan is dead. It has served it’s purpose with pride, but frankly, is no longer needed. Heck, it’s no longer wanted! That’s right, it seems America’s love affair with the minivan is coming to a close.
Long known to be the vehicle of choice for budding soccer moms and suburbanites, the minivan has become synonymous with the middle class American family. Not exactly popular in the rest of the world (they prefer station wagons) the minivan was purpose-built for the American family. Lot’s of space, 45 cupholders, and T.V.’s in the headrests. This is a parents dream ride right?
Well it seems nowadays it’s a whole other type of car that is in contention for America’s hearts. It’s the crossover, and it is the perfect blend of SUV/Car/Van. It show parents they don’t have to drive a boring minivan. They can make a choice that’s exciting for both them and their kids.
Crossovers are all the rage these days. Manufactures are starting to realize that instead of trying to mold a customer for a certain vehicle they can mold a car for the customer! A novel concept, I know, but one that has been working out great for car companies. Mostly all the new talked about vehicles of importance to a manufacturer’s existence has been crossovers. They sell, plain and simple.
So it’s the final countdown for minivans. Their days are truly numbered. This is good news though! It shows that the manufactures are finally listening to what you want. Apparently, all you want is to kill the minivan. Done.
