It’s a segment that Lexus has not participated in and for year denied wanting to. All of it’s competitors all have products in place in that segment. Some are even in their second versions of the respected model.
Well it seems Lexus cannot ignore the segment anymore. Info is leaking from inside that says Lexus is indeed prepping a smaller SUV to be slotted under the RX350. This amidst many rumors that it was otherwise.
But now lets look at the competition shall we: BMW has it’s well established X3, Acura has a rookie in the RDX, Infinity quietly released it’s EX35, and both Mercedes-Benz and Audi have their upcoming GLK and Q5 crossovers. How long is lexus gonna stand idle?
My guess is it never was idle. As any indication of the company’s success might show, they don’t jump in without looking. This has been a segment that Lexus has long been observing. Trust me, when the new small SUV/crossover debut’s (and it will) it should be a class leader.
