It’s not even for sale yet but Jaguar’s new XF sedan is already a hit with the Brits. The car recently won the popular “Car Of The Year” award at the What Car? London auto show. The XF also took top place in the ‘Best Executive Car’ category, ahead of the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes CLS.
The XF is the much anticipated replacement for Jaguar’s mid-size S-Type sedan. Though it sold relatively well through it’s life-cycle, the S-type’s popularity quickly dwindled in the face of newer and flashier opposition. Troubles at parent company Ford only worsened the situation.
Steve Fowler, group editor of What Car?, said: “For us, the XF goes straight in there with the very best cars from Jaguar’s past. And given that the car market today is more competitive than it’s ever been, it’s fair to say the XF is the best car Jaguar has ever built.
I wouldn’t go that far Steve. Seeing as the car is not even out yet and nobody has driven a production version. But the car does look promising, giving Jaguar something to look forward to. On top of all of this it’s already been approved by the home crowd.
British people lusting after a Jaguar again. That’s quite refreshing, especially for the people behind the cat.
Above: Striking and radical, the new XF is one bold new Jag….
