Not quite, but the 7 times Formula-1 world champion did take matters into his own hands, literally !
Schumacher flew into the aerodrome at the Bavarian town of Coburg recently and needed to take a taxi to the village of Gehuelz, about 30 kilometres away. The German racing legend was on his way to pick up a puppy (yes, a puppy) for his family and he was a tad late.
He waved down a taxi, and when he got in, asked the driver very politely to allow him to drive. The surprised driver, once realizing who he was dealing with, immediately let Schumacher into the driver’s seat. He then went on to cut a roughly 30 minute drive into about 12 minutes! Even though both his wife and two kids were on board, the champ had no reservations of pushing the cab to it’s limits.
Tuncer Yilmaz, the cab driver, said: “I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have “Schumi” behind the wheel of my cab was incredible.” At the end of the journey Tuncer took a nice tip on top of the 60 euros fare, he was also given a bill of 100 euros.
Good tip in my opinion, but if was me I’d say “No thanks Michael, the experience was worth way more than that!”
Above: Could you imagine seeing this guy hailing a cab?! Yo Taxi!!!
