Mercedes-Benz isn’t exactly known as a maker of daring “out there” designs, but their latest gem the CLS is a stunner. Dubbed a “Four-Door Coupe” the CLS range evokes a radical design while still giving it an air of sophisticated posh Benz attitude. So far there have only been a few select versions, each packing a potent V8 engine and matching price tag. Until now…
Mercedes-Benz has announced the introduction of a new entry level CLS model, the CLS280 is powered by a sophisticated new entry-level engine. A V6 with a displacement of 2,996cc that churns out 231 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque. More than enough for those that don’t need all that power, or don’t care for it. Doesn’t mean they would not appreciate a little oomph anywho in the form of zero to 60 mph in less than 7.7 seconds.
Minor exterior changes separate the CLS280 from it’s bigger engine siblings. These include a redone grille, new exterior mirrors and a new rear apron and taillights treatment. Very minor stuff and a Benz is a Benz no matter what engine is inside.
Should be a real hit when it comes out. Pricing has not yet been set but expect it to be in the $50,000 range when it comes out early next year.
