Audi’s S cars have always been known for the kind of understated performance that defines the “wolf in sheeps clothing” credo. Cars like the S4, S6, and even the S8 have proved to be very popular with performance enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. The A5 coupe based S5 is just gorgeous.
Well now it seems that the same formula is being applied to the iconic TT coupe and convertible. Leaked photos by a Spanish automotive news sight have leaked onto the net and the head honchos at Audi are not too happy.
The TTS, as it will be called, was suppose to debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The leaked photos show the convertible version in it’s full glory.
Most of the outside changes seem to be only cosmetic with an aggressive bumper treatment and new whees rounding off the package. Also new leather colors and special trim adorn the interior. The famous “baseball glove” leather also make a return here.
Power is said to come from a modified version of the S3’s powerplant. The 2.0 liter FSI Turbo powerplant makes around 270hp and is mated to either a six speed manual or the famous S-Tronic (Audi talk for DSG) dual-clutch transmission. Also expect a version of Audi’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension to be standard equipment. Pricing has not been announced but figure around 40-45 large.
The TTS coupe and convertible are expected to go on sale this fall as 2009 models.
