Crossovers seem to be all the rage nowadays. Saab is now jumping on the bandwagon too.
Recent leaked photos by a Dutch automotive website show the computer genarated production photos of the new 9-4x. Based on General Motor’s TE architecture (Saturn VUE, Chevy Equinox), the new Saab will finally have a personality all it’s own, no longer being a mash-up of either Chevy or Subaru platforms (The 9-7 SUV was a joke).
The photo’s show a distinct Scandinavian design language that should bode well with the rest of the line-up.
Motivation will come via Saab’s intelligent all-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque on gasoline and 300 hp and 295 lb-ft on E85 ethanol. Six-speed manual(!!) and automatic gearboxes will be available.
Look for the car to be in dealer showrooms as early as next spring.
