Lincoln knows it needs to evolve to stay in the game. It’s Navigator SUV has been losing ground in it’s market steadily and even a mid-life redesign could not stop the downwards slope it was going down.
The folks at Lincoln know this. They are now in the process of designing a new SUV/Crossover vehicle to regain the market they used to dominate.
The spy shots that have been released, of the car going through winter testing, show a much different design than the Navigator. It is definitely more towards the crossover segment than ever.
Although the test mule looks like a Taurus X wagon, the camouflaged grille has a striking resemblance to the design of the recently unveiled Lincoln MKS sedan. Lincoln has been hinting for some time now that it wants to give all of its vehicles a more cohesive look and they need it. It’s that kind of family resemblance which builds brand identity.
If anything look for a concept version at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show.
