Ford is in the midst of a deal that will see them using Sony as the exclusive supplier of audio components for all of Ford and Mercury vehicles. The Japanese company has long been a strong force in the audio component industry as well as a well established electronics giant.
Ford plans to make an announcement in Las Vegas, Nevada at the International Consumer Electronics Show. The show is highly regarded as a world stage for new electronic technology and innovation.
Ford has long used many suppliers for their audio components and is hoping a deal with Sony will see all their components coming from one source. This streamlines efficiency and makes sure quality stays in-house.
No announcement is made on the Lincoln brand but one expects that if successful, the Sony hardware should roll out across the line. Look for the new components starting on 2009 vehicles
