It’s the hottest muscle car in town. The new Dodge Challenger will be an instant classic the moment it hits the streets. The new muscle car is already starting a frenzy at dealers and Chrysler announced it has already taken 9,000 orders for the car.
Kathy Graham, Dodge Challenger public relations specialist, said, “We still are working on the total number of units that will be built. We’re really happy that people want the car. We’ll sell as many as we can build.”
Chrysler has still not put a firm number on how many Challengers Dodge will build in 2008. In December, Graham said that “it will be less than 10,000.” The pace of orders for the Challenger has slowed, however. Dodge dealers accepted more than 7,000 orders for the retro muscle car from December 3-10.
Still the people at Chrysler are ecstatic. They could not be happier with the reception of their new muscle machine.
Dodge has priced the Challenger SRT8 at $37,995, including a $675 destination fee. However, real-world pricing is said to be double that for some buyers. With greedy dealers already taking advantage one dealer said, “we won’t let one go for less than $50,000” That’s a $20,000 mark-up, and people will gladly pay up tp be first in line.
For such a gorgeous piece of automotive Americana, I might too…
This is one cool car, when the new Chevy Camaro comes out the two of them will jump start the muscle car craze all over again.
