Batteries for hybrids have always had the same complaints; they can’t stand extreme weather, they recharge slow, and just generally not reliable. Well Toshiba is saying with this battery that has all changed. They took all those basic complaints and took each one to this battery, the Super Charge ion Battery.
TSCiB is supposedly a safe, fast-charging battery that can repeat the charge-discharge cycle 5,000 times. That gives the battery lifespan for about 10 years, even if it’s used every day. Also, it allows the battery to recharge with a 50 amp current, meaning it can recharge more quickly than a standard battery, reaching 90% of its total charge in as little as five minutes. The Toshiba Super Charge ion Battery was even tested in extreme temperatures such as 22 degree weather. So I assume for all of you up north that get below zero, this just may never be good enough for you anytime soon.
