As of January 1st, Volkswagen of America will become the Volkswagen Group Of America, Inc. The name change was announced this week in a statement by VW and takes effect January 1st, as stated.
The German automaker says “the new name better reflects the fact that the Volkswagen Group of America includes five distinct brands: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Volkswagen.” True, it is not really widely known that VW of America controls all those brands. This way people can have a better understanding of the size and scale that is the Volkswagen universe.
VW of America said the name makeover “prepares us for even more activities in the future.”
Interesting to note that this all seems to coincide with the VW Groups earlier announcements of restructuring. It should mean some exiting news in VW’s future.
